These leaders consist of women coming from all “walks of life” and who have had all types of careers such as; athletes, writers, teachers, politicians, scientists, activists, business women, and mothers. Throughout history, they have helped to shape the world we know today by making advancements which have affected us all in one way or another; something deserving of our celebration and recognition. Make an effort this month to remember the women who paved the way for so many of us. This year the focus has been placed upon recognizing women in public service and government leadership. Through the challenges that they faced we have seen tremendous improvement in Women’s Rights and the movement toward equality. View the National Women’s History Month 2016 Honorees. Today, March 8, 2016 is “International Women’s Day”  and this year’s focus is on the need to continue and ramp up the development of gender equality globally.
